Hey PMs
Happy Friday. Here is an interesting post on entering a saturated market for founders.
One my favorite books is “How I build this” by Guy Raz. Each chapter is loaded with insights from thousands of startups on entrepreneurship.
One story stuck to me and I use this in my PM classes. It was about a founder who created an Energy bar.
Energy bars? There are so many of them. Ever walked in a grocery aisle for energy bars. Business is sure to fail. It’s so crowded.
But no, the founder found a unique angle. He added some ingredients that made it more suitable for cross fit trainers. So that was their position.
Energy bars for cross fit trainers.
In his latest post, Guy Raz makes the point that there is always some segment who is underserved. It’s your job to find that piece of the puzzle. Founders who can isolate that underserved need are valuable.
Here is the post.
