Competitive analysis, Transformed, Start with the Why
Hey PMs
Happy Friday. Here are some things I found of immense value about product management. Hope you find them useful too.
In this post:
Gem #1: Competitive Analysis by Myk Pono and Nandini Jammi
Gem #2: “Transformed” book by Marty Cagan
Gem #3: Start with Why - Simon Sinek
Gem #1: Competitive Analysis by Myk Pono and Nandini Jammi
In this guide, you will learn how to conduct a competitive analysis: understand market trends, identify your competitors, evaluate opportunities, analyze threats to your organization, and adjust your go-to-market and positioning strategy accordingly.
Gem #2: Transformed by Marty Cagan
Just started reading the new book by the legendary Marty Cagan - Transformed. In this book he talks about how companies can transform themselves to be product oriented. The main transformation is how you build products and which problems to solve for.
The change is not easy and he offers steps to get there. It is targeted not just at software companies but also traditional companies that use technology for their customer experiences. e.g. Walmart is a grocery store but they also have eCommerce, FedEx is in logistics but they have an online presence for users to track and ship.
Highly recommend the book to product leaders who are building customer facing or internal products.
Buy it Amazon.
Gem #3: Start with Why - Simon Sinek
You may have heard a lot on social here about the WHY. Why are we building this product? Why now?
Simon Sinek actually wrote a book on this topic. But start with this Ted Talk.
