Gem #1: User journey mapping by User interviews
PMs and designers have a responsibility to map the user journey, identify friction points and build products that map to the journey.
How do you create a user journey? What does it look like?
On this site, The User Interview team has provided many examples of user journeys. This will help you to think about mapping the user journey of your own users and customers.
150 examples and templates of user journeys.Gem #2: Feature teams vs Product Operating model - An argument by Mike Fisher
This argument is getting a bit murky to write about.
Marty Cagan has a point of view about Product Operating Model for product teams. He spoke about it in the Lenny Podcast.
Then Ben Erez countered that inherently there is nothing wrong with feature teams especially if the vision and customer value prop are clear. Execution and going to market is important too.
And now Mike Fisher wrote an article on substack on the topic. I’ll let you decide who he is countering and supporting. I think it’s both.
Here is an excerpt :
Despite the allure of a top-down, feature-heavy approach for clear-visioned CEOs, statistics and historical trends suggest a reality where the product operating model, which emphasizes outcomes over outputs, yields more sustainable success. This model not only challenges teams to meet immediate goals but also to deliver long-term value, which is essential in the volatile world of startups where the difference between a feature and a viable product can determine the very survival of a company

Ross writes about 5 studies from psychology and how it impacts UX design. These 5 psychological studies have shown up over and over in the UX design and research process. You can apply these concepts in your own user research, interaction design or creating site architecture.
