Gem #1: PM as a GM as a PM
There has been much discussion recently about the role of PMs and how they will be more closer to the GTM side of the house. There is bit more to that. More new PM team topologies will emerge going forward and slowly we will see the transition of the PM to be a business role than just a feature manager.
I came across this article “This VP is Doing Things Differently in the Product Org — Here’s His Playbook” by Tyler Hogge who was a VP Product and Strategy at Divvy.
The core of his philosophy is viewing Product Managers (PMs) as the General Managers (GMs) of their product, emphasizing that their primary objective isn't just releasing software but delivering tangible business outcomes. While this concept isn't groundbreaking in product management, Hogge stresses its significance and highlights Divvy's distinctive approach in actively implementing and reinforcing this idea throughout every aspect of the PM role.

Gem #2: What to put on your home page?
As a product manager or a founder we have a lofty vision for our product. Unfortunately, the customers are not yet buying a vision. They want a product that helps solves a pain point, today. The keyword is today.
What you put on your home page and product pages is critical for attracting the right buyer at the right time.
I started following Anthony Pierri on LinkedIn where he posts really insightful articles about messaging. He is a master PMM and we can certainly learn a lot from him as product managers.
Do follow him to enhance your own PM skills.
Gem #3: Managing Distractions
I found the recent episode of Lenny with Nir Eyal fascinating. Like many of you, I get distracted often. Checking twitter, a notification here and there and so on.
I like the suggestion of waiting 10 min to check on that notification. Still a work in progress and will require practice. Many more tips in the episode on how to do deep work.
Nir talks about how to manage your distractions, mostly based on his new book “Indistractable”.
